Early Orthodontics Treatments and More in Las Vegas

Early Treatment “Phase 1 Treatment”

The American Association of Orthodontics recommends all children be seen by orthodontists no later than the age of 7. Rarely, do patients younger than 10 receive complete orthodontic treatment, however, some children require limited “phase 1” care to treat the following conditions:

• Crossbites for back teeth
• Crossbites for front teeth
• Protrusive front teeth easily traumatized due to position
• Impacted adult teeth
• Early loss of baby teeth
• Thumb sucking, lip sucking habits
• Speech impediments

If these conditions are treated early with orthodontic care and growth and development monitoring, the negative effects can be decreased. Most patients who receive “Phase 1” care will still benefit from “Phase 2” or full braces when the permanent dentition is present.

The goal of phase 1 care is to minimize the chance of requiring removal of teeth, jaw surgery and any negative effects on gum tissue, enamel and supporting structures.
